My A/C For My VW Bora 2004 has kicked the bucket ..Does anyone know where i can get a local compressor for an affordable price because Euro parts are wicked expensive...OR its it more smart to buy a universal one ?? It's rainy season and i need one ASAP ..

Bro I'm in the same boat with my 2000 model Audi A4. Compressor gone and men calling $4500 for compressor  I'm also considering replacing it with something....cheaper, hopefully long lasting though. If I find anything out, I'll pass it on.

wow $4500 for a compressor alone? thats a hefty price tag! sometimes the best thing to do is to go online and price it and compare the price to local prices, another thing is to drive around in the bamboo and just price parts yes, thats what i do sometimes, because when my dad had is bmw and he needed to change parts it was hell to upkeep that car , all the parts had to be imported and the place in chaguanas that does the importing charged atleast 10% more making a huge profit on euro parts!

these business places making a killing on us!

Yes the resellers of car parts tend to jack up the prices on car parts what i do i check for it online. Check out this link for the compressor for the Volkswagen and Audi http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss? ... Compressor
you can check the year. I believe both compressors are similar and that link has many original compressors and universal ones.

$4500  .. Someone told me that the universal one is about $2000.. Might price it out this week from the bamboo and let yall know . Yes VW and Audi are very similar in parts. Will check out the link also thanks

i also own a VW Bora and just recently my compressor went dead..Went to ERM and they said $3,500 for one ..  Idk what to do so right now i', A/C less in this rainy season

3.500 Now! Wtf! Mines en route now..I paid less than 1300 to order but i don't know yet how much it will cost to clear..will let you guys know.. @LadyDeath make sure and order down your parts ..Sometimes as a female, parts places tend to jack up prices thinking you might not know better and just by it..Have all options open

LOL i know better than that... thinking about ordering a universal one i saw on Amazon ..much cheaper only 156 US :D

Its an old model but really works well now a days.My uncle owned this compressor and bring it to my workshop every week and its in a mint condition.
