UWI Security!!!

can anyone tell me how many security officers that r supposed to be stationed at UWI...some students were robbed at gunpoint yesterday in broad daylight..reports state that around 10.35am yesterday seven university students were at the TGR North car park in UWI when they noticed two men walked into the shuttle stop..the men of African descent dressed in grey vests and 3/4 jeans, were said to be acting suspiciously....the students said while waiting on the shuttle the men passed them an within seconds they turned around and announced a hold up...one student said the men then asked to hand over all their valuables, which included six cellphones...they then ran off on the main road and went into Bushe street....a witness to the attack said they saw the men escape in a black Mazda 626 car PAY-2229...the students are growing very concerned about their safety...they stated this lack of security leave them open to attacks an are traumatized by the event also d the emergency phone was not working....

Again The security at UWI and most places do not under go any type of training, they are only good to watch women and run when they see an incident happening. Bunch of failures!!!

I am a uwi student and i rent in bushe street exactly next to the house where the getaway vehicle was parked. bushe street is less than 2 minutes walk away from the entrance where the students were robbed and that entrance almost never has a gaurd stationed there. on 2 occasions i noticed questionable characters just walking into campus casually only to later find out that the same persons robbed a student and escaped through the same entrance. and i should also note that a camera is stationed there also. I remember once i had stopped a security gaurd and told him about a robbery just minutes after it happened but he was too busy arguing that i shouldnt pick the mangoes in school to bother with the report. But anyway, UWI is doing nonsense with regards to the security issues around campus especially with the TGR car park entrance. There are always students on campus studying or attending different functions etc apart from those drinking and liming around and their security should be ensured. When students can get robbed in the middle of campus, something is definately wrong.
I should however note that there are 1 or 2 good security gaurds. i was robbed about 2 years ago on evans street and thanks to one of them who patrolled the area as soon as the report was made, the persons were caught and i got back most of what they stole in less than an hour

Do you and any description of these persons so others can on the look out of these characters? .
Its good to know that people are coming out and talking about these things, matters like this can not be sweep underneath a carpet and life runs again normal, no people need to keep on pressing the admins of UWI about proper security detail on the campus. I know alot of people going UWI especially some of my female relatives so its a bit scary to know these things are happening and nothing seems to be coming out of it!

I didnt witness anything except an actual security presence there in the afternoon, I would ask the neighbours to see what i could find out. Hopefully the camera stationed there helps get an image out soon or atleast the victims can help make a sketch of them if possible.

we can put d security company's name...not d officers buh just d company..lets hope is not some Minister's company coz dem only puttin ppl without proper training...MTS is well trained an knows how to deal with students of all ages....just now d standard of UWI will go down!!!

I Am A Student and even passing thru TGR car park i does feel scared! if u see them characters not even students does be walking into there and it dont even have a guard boot at the end to atleast watch over the cars in the back..i hope a staff sees this post because when we complain nothing happens!

ah c ah ad in d papers dat dey hiring security officers for UWI...dey hav their own inhouse security service...lets hope dey get proper training an b preceipted so dey can hold an arrest individuals....our future leaders r in UWI an should b tereted with d utmost attention.....lets do d rite ting UWI security personnel!!!
