So i guessin Yall heard the news about Trinidad expecting to get a major earthquake that we have been long due to get i think is 30 over years now. They say that how it will be bigger than Haiti's and that since many of our infrastructure are not properly secured we in for some serious trouble. Our hospitals around Trinidad and Tobago can only hold 200 casualties. So tell me do you think we are prepared for an earthquake or if the government is preparing anything if this thing comes today or tomorrow or maybe 20 years from now?

No we are not prepared for an earthquake, most of the housing and business structures are not earthquake proof.

My question is, if they had known about this all along, why didn't they come forward with all this hype earlier? People, these people are out to exploit your fear. That's what they do. There are numerous cases where building that are supposedly built to withstand earthquakes, crumble during the same earthquake it was designed to take. Earthquakes are a force of Nature. these people prey on the fear of society. All over a sudden, symposium, lectures, meeting etc. taking place. For what? For them to tell me that I should go buy this and that to make my house stronger etc? Please. If and when an earthquake hits us, trust me..only GOD can help you. Not man... So i think I'll pass on all the hype and hysteria.

Ppl like alyuh want ah earthquake 2 hit we or what that is god's work let it rest

Exactly. Our "scientists" only come up with these obvious facts when another country has some natural disaster. There was all this big talk when Grenada was devasted by the hurricane, that we weren't prepared for such an incident. Nothing changed then though, and nothing's going to change now.

The mere fact that you are being warned now does say a lot. Instead of complaing it is wise to prepare. No one should depend on anyone to prepare for them especialy since it is being forwarned. No country can ever be ready for any catostrophe when our fellow neighbors will be in some form of loss or pain. I do think though that Trinidad is a much stronger country than haiti. Our economy is better, our infrastructure is better, our people live better, and as bad as the government may be they are investing in the research to warn the people. I am more worried for our tiny sister island Tobago. dont get me wrong I am worried for Trinidad and all of us too but Tobago is nothing in the face of such a disaster. Pray-keep the faith and prepare from now. Do not wait till it happens.
