What the hell going on in this country, why is the government allowing this horrible to escalate, anytime you pass by the beetham the blasted place smelling stink one time i got sick over that smell. It so close to port of spain and don't talk when it rain this smell has been going on for so long why is the government not doing anything to stop that smell are they not people living in the beetham?. Is the beetham not one of the PNM's vote majority area so why is the government allowing these people to suffer come on na man do something about that darm smell

This has been a problem for years now... they didn't do anything about it then, what makes you think they're gonna do anything about it now? There's no summit on the horizon,so don't hold yuh breathe for any solutions any time soon.

You must have just been passing through cuz people in the beetham doh smell anything, fact is the air smells like fresh sea breeze to them. I agree is a shame but we like it so been that way for over 50 years.

Well i guess if they not complaining then why bother because they getting to hide their weed and ammunition in exchange for no ratting out from officers ;)

This is a sad state, especially when you have to smell that every time you're heading into the capital. I'm surprised the government, who is so keen on looking first world, even if we aren't, hasn't done something about this yet.

I'm not sure about this, but has that dump been closed down or is it still operational?

still operational with all them pipers that does be hanging round your vehicle the minute you pull up there... Well remember all the ministers have ac so is boo hoo to we

Hmmm...when I used to go to school in POS I used to pray not to get caught in a traffic jam or shut down on the beetham. That is suicide.

According to Wispa, it has been like that for years and nothing was done about the smell and yet to date nothing has been done... But I do think all they did was push the dump more into the mangroves.... Yet the smell is still there...

It will be....Well someone i knew shut down on the beetham and well it was really a suicide mission. Boys came out and was knocking up the car and stuff when the people locked themself in the car..they was trying to pry the car open to rob them

Yep. People got robbed just waiting in traffic.

This morning made it no different.... From the lady young flyover yuh could see the smoke evading POS.... The smell was unbearable... By the time I reach City Gate, My stomach Turn upside down...

Hmmmmm...just now we will have to wear masks to go into POS. No proper drainage system, vagrants everywhere, shanty towns all around and extremely polluted air.

Port Of Spain is the capital of Trinidad and its over run by vagrants, you does be seeing more and more vagrants everyday. Btw i does be seeing early morning passing Through the beetham it have a truck sending out this smoke i believe its to cut the bad smell in the area, but you tell me is that enough no. This country seems to bee heading downwards, productivity seems to be on the roar but the society at large is spiraling downwards. For example the crime rate, wasa and their crap, food cost, the new bills being passed in government, wasting of money.

Exactly. No planning, just complete resource wastage. Is this gov't not looking at the oil situation, the economic situation or the real life example of U.A.E. who is caught up in debt after overspending!

I think that they shouldn't of had that dump there in the first place because it's the capital and alot of people does be in that area, another thing is the shanty town in the area by the lighthouse thingy them shacks need to at least be taken care of or build a wall or something like they did to the beetham. its not like if we don't care but who told them to live there in the first place.

Wow this morning was the worst i was sleeping in the maxi and as i smell that, i get up sneezing. This is 20/20 vision for us

Hmm, that is the worst thing to smell as soon as you wake up. I experienced that once or twice when I had to travel to school when I was going to Fatima. Thats not easy to deal with.

@Karrie: There's no planning in this country. They don't think about expansion. They just do whatever and then deal with it later when there's a problem.
