Stephen King says ‘Twilight’ author ‘can't write’
Horror writer says series appeals to girls due to nonthreatening sex scenes

LOS ANGELES - Stephen King’s opinion may drive a stake through the heart of “Twilight” author Stephenie Meyer.

In an interview with USA Weekend, the bestselling author compared Meyer with J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter series.

According to Stephen, “Both Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people… The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good.”

While Stephen may not be a fan of Stephenie’s writing, he understands the appeal of the series.

“People are attracted by the stories, by the pace, and in the case of Stephenie Meyer, it’s very clear that she’s writing to a whole generation of girls and opening up kind of a safe joining of love and sex in those books. It’s exciting and it’s thrilling and it’s not particularly threatening because it’s not overtly sexual.”

He further explains, “A lot of the physical side of it is conveyed in things like, the vampire will touch her forearm or run a hand over skin, and she just flushes all hot and cold. And for girls, that’s a shorthand for all the feelings that they’re not ready to deal with yet.”

Yup i never read it or seen the movie so i can't say but stephen king is a master writer and if he says this then you much consider the fact that it is

well i think that he is afraid of a little competition and although he writes scary awesome twists in his novels doesn't mean that other people can't write scary and romance together goshhh and its a female writer for crying out loud all who have a problem with twilight saga cud just suck salt lol :evil:

I think he does raise a valid point. The Twilight series has been always geared towards female teens...Its overly gushy to be taken seriously. Its like Bold & The Beautiful" with vampires in it. If you all remember the first Twilight thread, i said the same thing. I'm not saying that Stephenie Meyer is a terrible writer, who am I to judge. But its pretty obvious as to who the audience are..Twilight is basically a soap opera with vampires.

Listen right one thing

1. You all never read the book
2. The movie was different from the book
3. U all are just picking up what other people said about the book not reading it for allure self
4. if u read the book u all wud have different views about it
5. Stephen king is called the "king of the supernatrual"
6. That doesn't mean that someone else can't have a twist in it

Stephen King jealousing lol. Like he vex other writers actually have fans. lol. I dont understand not every story involving vampires have to be adult themed or freaking terrifying. lol. So what if her niche is teens lol. I prefer vampire stories to be gothic and scary but i wont force it on noone.
