A pack of du Maurier - $14. A loose du Maurier - $1.50.

Getting caught smoking one in a public place could cost you $10,000. That is if the Government has its way in the senate. Health Minister Jerry Narace is expected to present the Tobacco Control Bill 2008.

The bill is aimed at protecting persons from involuntary exposure to tobacco smoke in all public places.

Apart from office buildings, educational and health institutions, the bill also includes public transportation terminals, bars, clubs and pool halls as banned areas.

And anyone who smokes in these places once the bill becomes law is liable, on summary conviction, to a fine of $10,000. The bill requires a three-fifths majority to be passed in the Senate.

Maybe they mean sections for smoking and non smoking. i sure they not that dotish to try an all out smoking ban lol.
The should really ban all those smoking cars, i does see reall fumy cars poisoning the air. And like the drivers dont care. They dont enforce that law... would they enforce this anti smoking one.

Rau Cou I think its by law there should not be any cars smoking in the country... They check those things when u go for the inspection...
As for smoking in the public well that just sucks... even drivers have no shame when they have passengers in there cars....

yeah i was travelling home this week and the driver was smoking but when a passenger ask him to out it he didnt mind...

In America the cars are coming with some bio fuel filter things at the tip of their mufflers so if smoke is ejected it would not be harmful to the environment...I was watching a documentary of that on NGC

smoking is gayy. oo being a non smoker is cool. but second hand smoke kills. i fine that very gayy

most people hide and do it at the begininig but as sooon as everyone notices u doing it, you no longer hide.... even thought they know the consequences of it they jus don't listen...

i have a cousin who smokes...and at the begining he use to hide it from his family but now he smokes in front of them... he's knows the consequences but refuses to stop... y...no matter how much i embarass him about his lips black, bad breathe , he still smokes....i guess the addiction is a rapid thing!!!

Another Parasite Caught Today!
OFFICERS AT the Sangre Grande CID arrested and charged a 50-year-old woman under the Tobacco Act for allegedly smoking cigarettes inside a bar.

The detectives also arrested and charged the proprietor of Narine’s Bar at Ramdass Street in the area.

Chiba Moses of Fishing Pond village, Sangre Grande, and owner of Narine’s Bar, Kumar Lakhan, 45, are expected to appear before a Sangre Grande magistrate today to answer two separate charges.

Moses was charged with smoking in an enclosed area, namely Narine’s Bar, while Lakhan was charged with authorising Moses to smoke a cigarette at the public establishment.

The duo were held by Cpl Allan Khan and PC Verson Jean-Ville, who were on enquiries at the establishment around 3.30 p.m. yesterday.

They were charged under Section 12:01 and 12:02 of the Tobacco Control Act of 2009.

If convicted both accused could be fined $10,000 and sentenced to six months in prison.

Officers allegedly seized a lighter, two cigarette butts and eight unlit cigarettes.

The Health Ministry said the new law was designed to protect people from the exposure to second hand tobacco smoke, especially children, babies and pregnant women, as well as preventing others from taking up the habit.....

I have seen many people smoking in public places, I do not like that.

A person should not smoke in public places, particularly not in front of little kids.
