Winston Gittens, a man freed of two indecent assault charges, returned to court yesterday facing three counts of sexual assault on a 15-year-old, including rape.
Gittens, 55, of Mootoo Lands, Marabella, who admitted to the court that he had two cases of indecent assault which were dismissed, yesterday had the charges of indecent assault, grievous sexual assault, common assault and sexual intercourse with a minor read to him.
He was not called upon to plead to the alleged incident, which was said to have occurred in a red Kia car parked at Bailey Street, Gopaul Lands, Marabella, last Friday.
Gittens told First Court Deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington that his car had been impounded since the date of his arrest, and asked when it would be returned to him.
However, police prosecutor, Sgt Joey Samaroo, told Wellington that police officers were collecting evidence linked to the vehicle, before it was given back.
Wellington granted Gittens $100,000 bail with the warning that he stay away from the teenager.
The matter was adjourned to February 19.
