okay this is gunna be a fun thread

hands down my favourite engine is the RB26DETT , my reason is , the noise the engine produces, it just makes my knees all wobbly, and its actually not as bad as you think economically, yes it guzzles alot of gas, but only if youre mashing down and seriously pushing the engine, which is pretty much all the time when you have an engine like that!

this engine can also handle some serious pressure, as well as its very reliable, another thing too is the turbo, the spool up on the stock engine is still better than some of the modified engines out there!

i love that engine.

Wouldn't say its my top engine of all time, but its up there. As far as gas engines go I'm a huge fan of the B230FT engine from Volvo. Was found in the 740, 760, 940, 960 series cars. Mind you this engine is as old as I am. Its a 2.3l 4cyl engine, fuel injected and turbocharged out the factory pushing 10-15psi. Mated to a 4spd overdrive tranny, made the car hella quick. Volvo suspension is divine so in those cars u had fun galore. Anyway, back to the engine. Runs on 95 octane (yes premium) but has a distinct tone at idle which sounds like a v6 or v8.

Diesel engine is actually a zd30ddti found in the e25 caravan. Those are quite nice. Power at your beckon call, but still not the best. The best diesel that I can think of is in the vw toureg. V10 diesel power, in a SUV. Brilliant.

Love that engine and the car it comes in stock, The Skyline R34 GTR. Sex on wheels there.
Love the roar of that engine and it's tuning capabilities. It can take a whole heap of aftermarket tuning. Alot of potential and when maxed out, will beat any other engine on a good day.

Favourite engine of all time: Nissan RB26DETT

Why? Sound and tuning capability. They're very common nowadays too.

Other engines:

Nissan:
VQ series, VQ25DD, VQ35DE, VQ37VHR, vQ30DETT used in the Le Man's R34,
VK56DE, VRH35L(R92cp), SR20DET, YD25DDTi High Power

Toyota:

Yea that subaru engine really nice and it gave us the sound we all love to hear in a subaru lol.......
 
Nice reviews taken about the different engine and i know well about these all engines.Well for mine as an mechanic all engines are efficient have their own quality.
 
Yeah no doubt in your enjoying of this voice.I also loved to drive the cars with the fresh noise.I like to made perfect it on the road.
 
I think we agree, the Boxer Subaru is one of those iconic sounds we just love!
 
Yeah no doubt in it,its sound is really very lovely and we feel energetic more with its voice and running.I just love to drive it.
