What do you really know about Emanciaption Day ...Without doing research on the net what do you think it means?

To me , its when the day the slaves got freedom and its a holiday...I don't know much more than that... So enlighten me of your thoughts on the topic without research....Be honest to urself... :hiya:

Emancipation was when in 1834 apprenticeship system was ended which was half slavery which was to provide a peaceful transition from slavery to freedom. Emancipation was when slaves was granted freedom from the planters and they moved away from plantatons and settled into their own occupation and settled into crown lands which was owned by the government. They set up their own plantations and soon were independent. They had the right to vote now and the right to have an education which made them significant in socitey. After emancipation was immigration when the chinese and maderians and portuguese and indians came to work on the fields because planters had no labour ......

Sorry i am a history student lol

I know alot of people take this day very seriously so happy emancipation day everyone,

Yup like me ..after learning about it and reading what they went through and the struggles they faces made me feel proud to have this day as a holiday

Even if we are emancipated as a people do you really feel free can you still do what you did 7 years ago and still do it now, do you still have to fear for you lives any time you go out. Even if we are emancipated we are still slaves to money, greed, lust, sexual desires, etc

im sure all of u just happy to get a holiday, u saw how much money spent for that so call showin us how they got free, free meh foot , we are trini all ah we FREE!!!
