Massive Quake hits Costa Rica and generates a lot of damage – 1 person died of a heart attack and many injured...
-107 localities have been affected.
- About 50 houses have been checked with ranging damage along with around 25 different public buildings – all with minor damage
- 200 patients have been fully evacuated from Puntarenas Hospital. The 4 other hospitals in the area are running fine.

Mw6.8 earthquake hits Jan Mayen in the Arctic with some damage....30.08.2012 – A major earthquake has hit off Jan Mayen Island in Norway in the Arctic Ocean. 44 people live there, no injuries have been reported, but some damage and a rockslide has occurred.
Strong wave destroys turtle eggs following massive earthquake near El Salvador.....27.08-30.08.2012 – After confirmation, the El Salvador earthquake has destroyed around 45000 turtle eggs of the rare Ridley variety after tsunami waves destroyed the hatcheries. 6 people were also injured.

Deaths and Destruction after a series of shallow earthquakes in Yunnan, China – 50 people killed and 700,000 people affected
- A reporter who was inspecting the area saw huge landslides on both sides of the valley.
- Roads are being blocked by huge rocks.
- A boulder measuring 36 meter was blocking the river, creating a small lake
- The houses of 30 families living near a zinc mine have all been damaged
- aftershocks are following each other very fast. More landslides and rockfall is being triggered by the many aftershocks
- rescue workers have still problems to reach some areas as roads are blocked
