The justice system in Trinidad and Tobago has gone to the dogs, could you imagine a man who raped a woman over 3 years ago, the matter is still pending, even more so when suspected criminals are given bail to continue their killing spree. Why is it that murders, rapist, kidnappers, criminals are getting away for their crime they did, from the very justice system that is suppose convict these people. Why is it that they are given bail, lawyers are defending them, witnesses are not being protected before their hearing. Is this what T&T has come to today, Are we getting justice?

i think the government want more money so they giving them bail..i doh undertsand if they could build a wall of shame for no purpose really why dont they build another courts or hire judges to speed up the court system the gov't doh use their heads nah

Sometimes we can't blame the justice system alone... It all depends on whether the lawyer was present, the withness , the judge etc.... If these people are not present on that date of hearing, the case will be put off for another time... Time being like the next three months til the next hearing...

Nope resha, do you know how long a simple case is being due for, over years months so on. The justice system is so disorganized that cases are keep pending for very long times with out any trials. Even more their are people in jail over 2 years that are are still waiting trials is this a justice system?

I agree with u that some people waits too long to get a trail date but my point I was trying to make was that those who have trail dates don't attend and therefore its push forward for another time thus making a bad name for the justice system.....I think the prisoners are the only set of people who may not get a trail date at the same time.... But they do have a say and they do have representatives for them to set a trail date...

Another thing is the authorities dont build strong cases.. you hear of people being charged with lost of crimes and them having prior convictions but thats no indication of guilt. Sloppy forensics and investigative work is the reason alot of people get off the case work isn't up to standard. If we really want to arrest someone you should have everything in order. The justice system works just not in the way we like it.. if their is no evidence strong enough to convict a person the cannot and should not be convicted. Thats the law your constitutional right.. you're innocent until proven guilty... it doesn't matter if i think you are.. its the court's call. The courts dont have good conviction rates either because the police slapping random charges on people or they're just not following proper procedure. Police look more comfortable doing traffic than homocides and thefts and similar crimes. Sure we know how to raid people and do lockdowns and all that but how many police excel at running investigations.. the man on the street always seems to know more about whats going on than the detective. Its the simple things like evidence storage and creating reports that make all the difference.

Funny you should say that because its so true... Everyone knows who killed Tom but the police can't find any evidence to charge the Paul for the murder.....
