A former clerk employed with the Police Service Credit Union Co-Operative Society Ltd has been charged with one count of larceny servant, totalling $63,034, and four counts of falsification of accounts.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between May 11, 2016 and December 12, 2016.

Josann Berkley, 23, of Success Village, Laventille, was charged by PC Lennie Mc Queen, of the Fraud Squad, on Thursday following investigations into allegations that while she was employed as a clerk at the Barataria Branch of the credit union, she conducted four unauthorised transactions where funds totalling $63,034, were transferred into her account.

Following an audit conducted at the branch, the Fraud Squad was contacted and an investigation into the allegations conducted under the supervision of acting Senior Supt Totaram Dookhie, assisted by acting ASP Kent Ghisyawan and Insp Ramdhanie Dipchand.

The accused was arrested on Wednesday.
