Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has announced new areas under the 11pm-4am curfew which will come into effect from Wednesday 14th September.
Speaking at the National Security Briefing on Monday, she said the new areas are in addition to others named since the start of the State of Emergency on August 21st.
The new areas were decided after a meeting with the National Security Council.
They are Carli Bay, Moruga, Cedros, Claxton Bay, Maloney, Dow Village-California, Windy Hill-Arouca, Toco, Macbean-Couva, Chase Village-Carapichaima, Red Hill-D'abadie, and La Horquetta.
The Prime Minister added that the curfew will extend to sea.
"Along the 362 kilometres of our Trinidad and Tobago coastline and that will extend outward, outland, by 3 nautical miles. This will also be in effect from 14th September, 2011. Therefore, to those law-abiding citizens who have legitimate business, we give you notice of this and ask that you apply for permits so you can conduct your business within the course of the law."
The Prime Minister reassured citizens that Government's national security plans are well advanced and the increase in curfew areas comes after intelligence was received.
"We are collecting new intelligence as we are going along. This has caused us to add the new areas to the list of areas under curfew. I want to tell you, I intend to win this war. This is a fight not only between the Government and the criminals, this is a fight between the people and the criminals."
Adding to the Prime Minister's statement, the Chief of Defence Staff, Brigadier Kenrick Maharaj, said persons conducting legitimate business at sea will be able to obtain Curfew Permits.
