I don't get it. Why do most people choose to do automatic when they are in the process of obtaining their license? Most people I've asked never knew anything about Manual aka Standard transmissions. They think the clutch pedal is scary. I agree a manual requires a little more time to perfect but at the end of the day when you have obtained a Manual License you can pretty much drive anything thats auto or manual.

People have even said "You never need to drive a manual." Couldn't be further from the truth. In certain industries where employees are given company vehicles they most likely will need to have a manual license as the company isn't going to spend extra money on an automatic.

So I don't understand, manual aka standard transmission takes the better half off 20 minutes to learn, why not?

I think manual is best, but all of the drivers I've discussed this with so far have all said to go automatic. This includes both automatic and manual drivers! The most popular explanation is that it's unnecessary and too hard as many people prefer automatic anyway. At the end of the day it's a personal preference, but there's a lot of bias against manual from my experience.

What about manual is hard? Doing long divison in maths is much harder than learning manual. I'm not saying that its not a difficult to deal with in traffic but realistically most people I've spoken to never did it because they heard it was hard. They didn't actually know about it.

I agree. I think people who are going to learn should be able to decide for themselves without pressure from others to go a certain way. Perhaps even take a class in each and see what they prefer.

I prefer they go learn manual as it is a bonding with you being in sync with your vehicle and its easy to learn......that sync with their vehicle is not something which will be easily obtained with a automatic vehicle IMO and well its always good to be able to drive anything lol....

In addition to being in sync, which is very important, the type of finesse that you learn from working a manual properly, you never get that with an auto. At least thats my opinion.

Being able to drive anything is important in emergency situations as well as for the love of all things automotive!

I think it all comes down to personal preference . However, obtaining a manual license is pretty kool!

Personally i always tell people to go for a manual license as i did. Yes i am a girl and it was not hard at all. I opted for a manual because my family has a mixture of both automatic and manual vehicles. In cases of emergency too, i will also have clear knowledge of driving a manual vehicle. I also had a Subaru Wrx Sti V-Limited Edition that i used to drive around for a period of time and it was an experience i will never forget. If i had auto , i would have never gotten that opportunity.

Sometimes others don't see the big deal in getting a manual because they are definitely not going to buy a manual vehicle or do not have any friends or family that own one. They are not even in occupations that require it such as office or indoor jobs.

Nice reviews got about the Manual License. Now i understand what the matter with this license because i never try for it but now i am aware from it.
