The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is calling on citizens to change their water use habits to help conserve water as the country heads into the 2013 dry season and an inevitable ten-day shutdown of the Point Lisas Desalination Plant to facilitate maintenance work....WASA's head of corporate communications Ellen Lewis yesterday said the sustaining of the country's water supplies is not the sole responsibility of WASA but a joint responsibility of all customers....."Customers are therefore given notice to begin changing their water use habits towards a practice of conservation and water use efficiency. There is also a need for customers to address the problem of household leaks and overflowing storage tanks. And where customers do not have a proper system of storage in place, one should be established," she said.....

President of the Sheep and Goat Farmers Association Sherazz Khan said the shortfall in the water supply during the ten days will affect farmers economically.....mainly because they will have to purchase water for their animals since they can't prepare for the use of water as it relates to the care of the animals.....

Re: wasa starts wednesday!!!

If you see at all the tanks in the longdenville hardware already sold out . i am sorry for those homeless and also unfortunate sigh wonder how them will store water

Re: Wasa cutting water supply 2 weeks!!

This is real crap wasa taking about how we waste water but when people report to wasa about road leaks, pipe lines leaks and so on they take weeks to fix it. It don't like the idea of 3 weeks for the residents of Tabaquite to be with out water, this is real madness.

Tens of thousands of $$$ spent in ad blitz

“TOBAGO Ahead of Trinidad … In Water Security” screams the headline of a three page Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) advertisement. The advertisement was one of several placed in the daily newspapers by State bodies in an unsuccessful attempt to boost the Tobago Organisation of the People campaign.......When people in South Trinidad or Port of Spain or Diego Martin are plagued by dry taps or get brown water when the supply returns, they now know that Tobago comes first as far as WASA is concerned. What a thing! The tens of thousands of dollars in failed advertising also featured a two-page colour spread with three pictures of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar opening of all things.....a gas station in Roxborough.....Tobago. Imagine that! Also, posing in the ad are Ashworth Jack, the leader of the Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP), who despite the advertising blitz, lost his seat and Energy Minister Kevin Ramnarine. National Gas also joined he fray with full page ads entitled “Tobago Is No Longer a Spectator In the National Energy Sector......Shameless waste of public funds.......
