From Thursday, citizens of Trinidad and Tobago travelling to European countries in the Schengen Zone will no longer require entry visas for short visits up to 90 days, in any 180-day period.
A release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday advised the Short Stay Visa Waiver Agreement between T&T and the European Union will be signed on Thursday and will immediately take effect.
The agreement allows visa-free travel for citizens of both T&T and the European Union, except in the case of travelling for the purpose of carrying out a paid activity.
"The category of persons carrying out a paid activity covers persons entering for the purpose of carrying out gainful occupation/remunerated activity in the territory of the other contracting party as an employee or as a service provider."
Citizens are advised to familiarise themselves with the precise travel requirements prior to travelling abroad.
