Are there really over 17,000 people who truly believe that the Earth's surface is flat. Seriously, a conspiracy by the governments of the world? And they say holding the Earth below is four elephants on the back of a turtle! I'm just amazed, I can't seem to get any members on my forum, and here are 17,000 people who joined this nonsense?

Well the organization has been around for hundreds of years in various forms, and the idea of a flat earth has been around since the beginning of thinking man. so those numbers are not really surprising.

You might also consider that not all those members truly believe the earth is flat. The welcome page says they welcome both skeptics and believers alike and is for the discussion of flat earth theory's. So it's basically for anyone who wants to discuss argue the ideas and theories, either for or against. it's a bit like people joining a star trek forum really.

One of the pit falls of science is that we always assume that we were right the first time. This is proof of how wrong we could be. This was scientific certainty for thousands of years.. for some cultures anyway. Everyone else was to smart for that. lol.

Lol..didn't really check out the forum, but reading admins post is hilarious. Anyways back to the topic...the earth is flat...hmmm..If there is indeed elephants holding up our "flat planet" then what are the elephants standing on? It has to be a surface strong enough to support the weight of the elephants plus the weight of the load on their backs..lol..So in theory our "flat" planet is located inside another planet? lol..i could go on and on with this.

lol another well accepted crackpot theory is the " hollow earth" theory. Pretty much says that we just live on the outer shell of a hollow sphere. Some even belive there is another smaller planet within earth! lol. That actually more beliveable than the flatness.
