A woman who robbed an employee of the South West Regional Health Authority for money to buy cocaine was sent to jail for 18 months yesterday. Dressed in a dirty red hoodie top and pair of jeans, Mary Turner, 41, protested the sentence, “Why allyuh giving me jail for that, darling?†Turner, of Sea Lots, Port of Spain. Turner said it was the first time she ever appeared before a court. “Is the first time I get caught. I never get caught in Port of Spain,†she laughed. She added, “I stop (robbing). I cry for so in the cell. I don’t want to go back.†Turner said, “Boss, ah buy two 25 balls with that robbery money and the pusher keep the change. Look the bank card right on the ground over there.†She was sentence to 12 months on the robbery charge and six months on the other charge. When she realised she was going to jail, she begged, “Ah sorry, ah sorry. I suppose to get my public assistance today.â€ÂÂÂÂÂÂ
