FRANCHISE holders for Miss TT-Universe, The Universe Group led by Ian Lee, were so pleased with the calibre of the 60-plus girls who turned up for screening at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Sunday, that 14 of them were asked to come back for another round of competition next Sunday at the same venue. On Saturday night two contestants from Tobago were chosen.

Judges included former franchise holder Peter Elias, Allison Brown, Adrian Raymond, photographer Calvin French, Sharon Imbert, former Miss TT Leah Guevarra-Bernard and Lee himself.

I think we miss out this year because of the lack of funding ...

i dont know dem girls stickin, maybe some ah dem girls on trinispice should up yuh know yuh boy go be routing 4 yuh

Tru, i hardly hear about the Miss Universe thing locally... The last thing I saw was, a picture in the papers showing a number of girls lined up in swimwear and all these "male" judges looking at them. it look really misogenistic and degrading. But other than that, nothing.

The finalists are Shari Dumas, 23, who is studying for an Associate Degree in Tourism Management; June Lightbourne, 25, is an office assistant who is also studying for a Bsc in Human Resource Management; La Toya Woods, 24, a model, is studying for a Bsc in Psychology; Sarah Radday, 22, is a loans officer; Lisa See Tai, 23, who is pursuing a BA in Fashion Design; Nisa Benjamin, 18, an OJT trainee from Tobago; Shirlanne Singh, 25, a marketing sales director; and Danille Prime, 25, a medical student.
Very professional girls I must say................

This country will be sending a delegate to the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant after missing out on this year’s competition. The Universe Group led by Ian Lee have just taken over the local franchaise

ITs good that they are very intelligent girls and not the Blondy types, Miss universe i not only about looks but intelligence,

yeah.... i looked forward to see it on tv this year but i never heard anythin about it. guess we really missed out. its nice to see our trini ladies with nice profiles remember its the looks as well as the brains

I personally couldn't care less about the Miss Universe competition. That's more a chick thing...Come to think of it. I don't watch any of those sort of things. Never interested me much.

I used to watch it because my mother and sis was hogging the Tv so had no choice but i was not hooked by it because i still don't get the point of this.

lol yes its a chick thing. i used to love it sometimes i used to watch it to laugh when anyone makes mistakes now i missed it ...well i guess there is always America's most funniest videos lol
