Vivienne Sally-Crane, of Flat 22 Cinnamon Place, St Ann’s, got into difficulties at pool number three after she went to the assistance of Tamika Mitchell, 13, of Alexander Place, East Dry River, Laventille.
According to police, around 3.30 p.m, Sally-Crane, the wife of SAUTT officer Terrance Crane, was bathing at the pool in company with other people when she realised Mitchell had gotten into difficulties in the water.
Crane went to the girl’s assistance and she too got into difficulties and went under water. Villagers were alerted and were able to pull the two from the water, but Sally-Crane was already dead.
One of the villagers performed CPR on the teenage girl, who was resuscitated and taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where she was treated and remains warded.
Cpl Kent of the Blanchisseuse Police Station is investigating the incident.
