Two new films open at Trinidad cinemas across the country and with Alice in Wonderland selling out nationwide, it should be yet another busy week at the box office.
The high-profile release this week is the Joe Johnston directed The Wolfman starring Benicio Del Toro, Emily Blunt, Hugo Weaving and Anthony Hopkins. Legion has been out of theatres for some time so those looking for a fun scare will flock to this horror remake. The film follows the son of a wealthy family returning to his childhood home after his brother disappears. When his brother is discovered murdered, he vows to find and kill the mythical beast and unravels a heartbreaking secret in the process. I have already seen this film and in my personal opinion it doesn't exactly meet expectations and completely falls apart in the third act.
It is rated 18+ and reviews are weak citing a "suspense-deficient script and a surprising lack of genuine chills" , which is the whole point of horror movies.
Next up is Brooklyn's Finest which I outlined last week but was pushed back to this week. Here's the rundown. The serious cop movie stars Richard Gere, Ethan Hawke, Don Cheadle and Wesley Snipes in a film which covers a week where NYC policemen are caught up in a major drug operation that reveals a lot more than they bargained for. Like I said last week, it doesn't seem very interesting and Richard Gere has taken a lot of bashing for his performance.
It is rated 18+ and reviews are mixed saying its gritty and raw but very cliche.
Are you interested? Or are you still trying to get a ticket to Alice?
