A LA HORQUETTA man who sought refuge in a neighbour's house to escape two gunmen was pursued by one of the shooters and shot dead.
Police said that around 7.30 p.m. Franklyn "Shaka" Matthews, 30, was liming outside his Phase Seven, La Horquetta, home when two men walked up to him. They fired several shots at him and missed.
Matthews ran off. One of the killers went after him, storming the house where he fired more shots, this time at point-blank range.
Matthews was killed and the two men ran off.
Up to press time last night no motive behind the murder was established.
Police are also continuing investigations into the murder of a man found with a chop wound to the back of his head on Wednesday morning at Garden Road, Lopinot.
The dead man, Carlos Sylvester, 33, originally from Carenage, had moved into the area a few years ago, police said.
Autopsies are scheduled for today on the bodies of the two men. No forensic pathologist was available yesterday.
The Express was told that pathologist Dr Hughvon Des Vignes was before the court giving evidence in an ongoing murder trial.
A team of detectives including Insp Johnny Abraham along with Cpl Leroy Baptiste (Arouca CID) are continuing investigations.
