man charged with animal cruelty for eating baby rat

A Utah man has been charged with cruelty towards animals after he posted a live video of himself eating a baby rat on his Facebook page.

Andy Harris was seen putting the hairless rodent in his mouth before chewing it and swallowing in the footage.

It then showed Harris washing the animal down by sipping a large drink through a straw, reports the Sun.

The 31-year-old man was arrested after People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) who had received a series of complaints alerted cops to the footage.

However, Harris has pleaded not guilty to aggravated animal abuse and he is now facing trial.
