So the age old debate among car lovers everywhere. Which do you prefer?

The Kia Sportage:
Available as a 2.0 Turbo charged model with output up to 265hp in certain regions of the world, its no slouch. It may just be a very fun crossover utility vehicle.

Or do you like the Tucson?

Let the battle begin :D

lol tucson looks good on the outside but its a cramped vehicle i find....but will go the tuscon over the sportage lol

Cramped in terms of length or width? Tucson is a nice vehicle and I'm glad you like it because most people tend to say its ugly and they prefer the Sportage. Which I don't think it is an ugly vehicle either.

yea as Im a person who's about 6'3 the length space is cramped dont think anyone except a child will feel comfortable behind me lol..but Hyundai has come leaps and bounds from where it was this new design language appeals to me..kia and all but that 2.0 turbo if it was being offered down here sounds like rell fun

haha you are quite tall indeed. The quality of these two brands have become top notch. Some people do resist them still following previous information but its safe to say these are current gen vehicles. Just by looking at the maintenance sheets for the Sportage alone i can tell you these two are winners in terms of maintenance and performance.

I'd even go as far as to say locally they are better bang for the buck than Toyota and the other major japanese brands.

Yes especially the package of features that comes in the Hyundai of today bluetooth this.....and much more compared to some vehicles in its category is best..im yet to check out the kia's hope they doing good also

Kia offered projector lights, Bluetooth and steering wheel controls when Hyundai did not on the base Sportage. Now ive seen they only bring the projector lights on the Tucson but did not notice any drl.

Kia also switched to the bigger style fog light for 2013 which I believe acts as a cornering lamp.

However the two are relatively the same.

I have seen both the vehicles inside out. Personally I prefer the Tucson.
Why? For the size of the Sportage, I find it could be bigger on the inside. Also, the exterior is a bit too much for me. I prefer the simplicity and shape of the Tucson. That interior space isn't a problem for me with both vehicles but I could very well understand Grimreaper's concerns, as I have tall friends that have similar troubles from time to time.

TCC's Bottom Line A better ride and improved handling should add to the appeal of the 2014 Hyundai Tucson, which carries forward with curvaceous sheetmetal and against-the-grain crossover styling. With up to 260 horsepower on tap and styling that's suitably athletic, the 2014 Kia Sportage shows that practical compact crossover wagons don't need to be so stodgy.

According to Carsdirect.com

Though not quite twins, the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage definitely qualify as corporate cousins. Both brands are part of the Hyundai conglomerate and share certain technology and components. Even so, these compact crossovers are distinct enough to invite a comparison, a credit to their parent company, which could have just affixed different badges and grilles and called it a day.

What's to Like About Tucson
The current model manages to look downright sexy for a crossover. It's sculpted along the lines of sporty hatchback that happens to ride high and have two extra doors. Responsive steering and a sport-tuned suspension provide an unexpected level of driver involvement and satisfaction. The Tucson feels tight and nimble through all phases operation, so much so that buyers stepping down from larger SUVs might need time to get used to the Hyundai's responsiveness in daily driving.
Power comes from a pair of four-cylinder engines: a base 2-liter and available 2.4-liter making 165 and 176 horsepower, respectively. The smaller engine is limited to entry-level GL trim and can be had with a six-speed manual. The 2.4-liter comes only with an automatic transmission and mandatory all-wheel drive.

What's Different About Sportage?

The Kia carries its own distinctive styling, so it will never be mistaken for the related Hyundai. The look is robust and refreshing for a crossover in this price range and is likely to win some sales on its own.
Under the hood, the Sportage dispenses with the Tuscon's 2-liter and makes the 2.4-liter standard. Sporty SX models get a turbocharged 2-liter making 260 horsepower and more aggressive suspension tuning.

What Tips the Scale?

Both models offer greater agility and tighter handling than the average small crossover, albeit at the expensive of cargo space. The turbocharged engine, available only in the Sportage, delivers standout power and performance for this class of crossover.

Our Verdict: KIA SPORTAGE

Most things being equal, the Kia's optional turbo puts it in a class by itself.

Nope, we do not have AED currency and so its not applicable to our country.

Secondly, our base LX model Sportage comes with 2 airbags and does not come with factory installed keyless neither cruise control. The above is not representative of our region especially considering the two in our region have the same 2.0l engine making the same power figures.

Base model Tucsons here come with LED Turn Signals on the side mirors as well as standard equipment. Sportage does not. Tucson also has foldable rear seats, urethane steering wheel(base model), I can confirm seeing base model Tucsons with parking sensors as well.

We're also not necessarily talking base model, what does the Tucson GLS have vs the Sportage EX that we get locally?
