Its only in Trinidad you go to a police station and the police officers don't take you seriously, people coming to kill you or they steal something for you and the police saying in front your face "what we could do about that now".
Why is it that the police are so corrupt and even doing more crime than the criminals themselves, is only in Trinidad that no one is putting a stop to this and just letting this continue.

So i say to you guys is the police force a loosing cause?

Are you asking us or telling us? I haven't had to deal with the police and when taking peoples word for it you have to keep in mind you only hear the sensationally bad stuff. Everyone has a conspiracy theory.
I'm not one to have unrealistic expectations of the police. They're detectives not psychics, crime prediction only works in minority report. The only thing I can say about the police is as detectives they suck. I have a feeling they dont have a mandate to actually complete investigations. If they treat investigations like they should we'd have a better conviction rates in court. We'd actually arrest the guilty people. We might have real police with badges but they're pretend crime fighters.

I like Raucous's take on the situation.LOL. anyways, I don't think our Police service is a losing or lost cause. Sure there's gonna be the bad apples in the bunch. Which service/organization/company don't have them??? But like Raucous said, people tend to sensationalize things. especially Trinis. What you hear are the negative things about the service. Never the good things. There are good hard working men and women who put their lives on the line everyday to carry out their duties. Good men and women.
Ask those same people who seem to spread only negative views on the service, who would they call in the case of an emergency? Not those same police? Sure the service needs work. Sure they need to be better at gathering evidence in order to convict the guilty. Sure they can be better detectives, but at the end of the day, its them we rely on for protection, whether they good at their jobs or not.

The thing about this guys is that i was robbed and beaten by men with guns and the police just did nothing you have to look at crime watch the amount of people are being neglected by the police, if your a victim to this you will know where i am coming from. I do understand their are hard working police officers and i do have police relatives but when more things bad things are being done in the force all you can say is negatives.

I understand your opinions but if you were in some people's shoes where the police did nothing to help them you would know, how it feels. We do not owe them they work for us.

We do know how it feels, we have been victims of crime. We just don't talk about it. even if we weren't we'd still be able to empathize. And its really strange when people complain about the generic "police" (tm) . Is it the organization or the people? it the same thing when people mean the government (tm) politicians or organization.. I'm like Wispa I prefer to think of the organization as who we rely on, not the individuals who comprise it. I see alot of police where i live, actually doing patrols and roadblocks every thing people ask for, making their presence known, it doesn't stop the criminals. But the police are doing what they can with their limited resources,. I may be negative but i honestly believe the police cant do any better currently, not with the current infrastructure.
I was never one to pin my emotional well being on the police anyway. Sure i feel safer, but i wont die if i miss them. I act the same whether they're there or not.

Yes i think so. The number of people i hear complaints from and the number of crimes i saw left there unsolved it makes me wonder what are really their jobs in this country. Police take advantage of their role in society and look at it as being spared from any wrong thing that they engage in and can get anyone to do their bidding for them e.g get illegal guns, weed etc. I think that more detectives should look into the matter and really get rid of all the wrong minded police officers

There is the good ones here and there in society people come into chag police station everyday but the officers are so lazy to help anyone sending them to other station saying they cannot help. and chag police station is the central one that has alot of officers and a big structure and still they act as if they are handicap

While I do agree that there are the crooked cops in the services, you can't assume they all are that way. Like sita and other have stated, there are a lot of honest hardworking men and women who strive to change the public's perception of the service. They do so, by carrying out their duties with honour and respect, worthy to be called an officer of the law. There are those that "do" put their lives on the line everyday to protect and serve the public. It a shame that the negative actions of some seem to outweigh that of the positive news.

Yup but the rotten eggs in the police force is getting them a bad name, what i'm saying is that more should be done to weed them out, find them and punish them. People are afraid to come out and say something or even report or file a case against an officer. Most should be done to control these bad elements in our protective services

Is that not what we're seeing lately? Officers arresting their own fellow members for breaking the law? I think that they are on the right track. More and more corrupt officers are being weeded out of the service.

Yes i do agree but thats only some officers remember if you wearing the same uniform your taking for your brother eh, what i'm saying is that most of them will cover up the story and defend their fellow officer.

But not only that when they take these rotten eggs(bad police officers) into costidy what really happens well let me tell you

1. They can't find the evidence to have a court hearing or to lock up the officer so they have to let him go.

2. They transfer the officer to another police officer until the matter dies down so the officer can resume his duties as normal

3. The suspend him but does not file for any court hearing again until the matter dies down so the officer can resume his duties as normal

4. Their's more but i can't think right now

I agree and also they should start with the large police stations first as i was saying in another post that chaguanas police station so retarded and i sure admin would agree they have things their runt mixed up and not organized. they are a big firm and yet they sending people with reports to other stations saying that they cannot handle it
