A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl has told a story to police of being confronted at school by a masked man who threw a net over her. The girl said she wriggled free and escaped.
The alleged incident occurred at around 12.20 p.m. on Tuesday at the Point Fortin ASJA Primary School.
An ASJA official said they had been told of the incident by school authorities, but had no official report.
Communication specialist of the Ministry of Education, Rory Subiah, said he was unaware of the incident.
Point Fortin police said they were investigating the report of the infant, who lives at Vance River.
The school's parents will meet today to discuss how to improve security. A PTA member said a single security officer, who is pregnant, was the only one on the compound when the alleged kidnap attempt occurred.
It was when the bell rang to signal the end of the school lunch that the girl said she went to the Second Year classroom of the school to get her pair of shoes. While there, police were told, a man wearing a mask, white pair of sneakers and gloves threw the net. The girl said she ran and the man ran out the compound.
