Cool stuff about language sounds

I cant copy lol.. but this site has records about the sound types of languages. Can you belive that one language has 112 phonemes or individual sounds! To put that into perspective english only has 40 something! Yeah.. the one with the least... only 11!

The sounds that make up our words, like the word "cat" it has a short "Kh/Kuh" sound an "ah" sound and a "Th/Tuh" sound. (The "Uh" silent eh lol). Those are three or (mostly) two separate sounds used to make up the word "cat". Some people put a "kyuh" sound in the beginning so it would be "Cyat" lol.
It's where you get those "a as in cat" or "o as in top" things in front of your dictionary or encyclopedia. My oxford study dictionary has seven "A" sounds combined with consonants that we normally see/hear in english.
An american dictionary you have a slightly different sound chart because of the accent difference.
My favorite word "Potato" shows the subtle differences alot. Say it with different accents and you'll see what I mean.
