Criminals from Trinidad are hiding out in Tobago. This is the view of residents of Bacolet Point, who are still reeling in shock over last weekend’s chopping of British couple, Marion Greene, 59, and her husband Peter, 65. They were chopped badly on Saturday afternoon by intruders at their Bacolet Crescent home.

They are still in hospital, and are receiving the best treatment available. the chopping of the English couple bears some similarity to the chopping of the Swedes earlier this year. This is the second case for the year and it is going to be detrimental to tourism in Tobago. This crime was committed by people who might be influenced by negative elements portrayed on cable television or Tobagonians attempting to adopt the lifestyle of Trinidad criminals.

Sixty per cent of the workforce in Tobago depends on the tourism industry...They have already been hit by the global economic crisis and this blow would create a greater impact on there earnings in tourism.

I thought they died i do not know but this was the same day i was in tobago and i heard it on the news and being far away from home (to me ) i was very frighten. It really sad because reall people in tobago just civilized and friendly and to know it have a few nagative people does make it badd

Clint Alexis, 25, of Tobago, was denied bail yesterday, when he appeared in court for the attempted murder of British couple, Peter and Murium Greene.
There was also a high police and army presence at the court, as about 300 fellow villagers blocked roads from about 7 am, claiming that Alexis was innocent. Meanwhile, Murium Greene was released from hospital, and was scheduled to leave for London last evening. Her husband remains in the Intensive Care Unit of the Eric Williams Medical Complex in Mt Hope, where officials said he was showing signs of improvement. Greene and his wife were chopped about their bodies at their Bacolet home on August 1.
